So, how can I serve you today? My name is Patrick and I love to help people. I also love to climb mountains (both literally and figuratively, but more on that later.)
Now let’s get into what this is all about! Self-leadership, what is it? It’s the practice of intentionally changing your thoughts, feelings, and actions to better align with your goals or objectives. Easy enough, right? So why is this such a novel concept? Why do we look for answers to every problem in our life except our own mind? My objective is to help change that. I had to do it in my own life. Choices that I was making in my life were causing me to never take steps forward. I was afraid of failure and that crushing effect left me paralyzed from moving on to what I wanted to do with my life. So, what happened you ask? A few life changing events and a perpetual rock-bottom. Well I woke up one day and fixed it, right? (Insert eye-rolling emoji) Right, it’s that easy.
Learning how to control your thoughts and emotions is difficult. It takes intentional practice and planning. We will get into a high level plan of how I did this for myself. It started with reevaluating my values and purpose in life; I call this personal culture. Personal culture is the base of who you are – this should be the most direct influence you have on your daily decisions. How would you define your values and purpose?
Now let’s jump back to that mountain stuff…
Have you ever been to the top of a mountain? (If not, stop reading this and go climb one!) What was your favorite part? Was it the journey it took to get there? How about the view from the top? Or maybe it’s the feeling of being on top of the world, even for a brief moment? There are countless reasons to fall in love with a journey to the summit of a mountain. Mine personally is always being able to look back on the journey it took to get there. I look at success in life the same way, the journey to get there is always an uphill battle but we should always take a moment to look back and appreciate where we came from when accomplishing something in life. But what motivated you to get to the top of the mountain in the first place? Setting goals for yourself is crucial for your journey through life. We call these goals, your peak. Disclaimer: Setting and accomplishing these goals should not be easy, they should push you, they should make you think about where you want to be when you accomplish them, and they should make you appreciate where you came from to get there.
So if you have a solid base and now you’ve set your peak, what’s left? Simple answer, navigating your slope, or what I like to call the stress test of life. This is a combination of self-imposed tests and being in position to handle the unexpected in life. Your slope will enable you to make sure that your base truly aligns with your peak, because if your values and goals aren’t aligned, do you really believe you will achieve them?
Build a base, navigate your slope, reach your peak. This is where we start our process!
I ask you to join me on this journey as I help walk you through all aspects of self-leadership (and how we start to translate that to leadership) and improving your life both mentally and physically, mixed in with some mountain views and an appreciation for the outdoors! We will take deep dives into every aspect of life how to apply these principles to better yourself…
Are you ready to start your self-leadership journey?
So, I’ll ask you again, how can I serve you today? Have a blessed day! Keep climbing!
